BIO

In my paintings, I portray themes of masculine vanity, materialism, and the idiosyncrasies of American pride using nocturnal scenes and experiments in light phenomena. Stylistically influenced by Americana and southern iconography, my paintings arrive through associations between personal introspection and ubiquitous symbols. There is an inherent violence and physicality underlying the surface of my work, as I place conflicting images in concert and enhance their contradictions through reflective objects and contrasts in light. The darkness and shadows add mystique to understood images, causing them to linger in an ethereal space. My work exists in conversation with a long lineage of art history and cinematic images.
